The Journal of Surgical Radiology welcomes high-quality scholarly submissions that explore the integration of radiologic imaging with surgical practice. Authors are requested to carefully read and follow the guidelines below to ensure efficient peer review and publication.

  1. Scope of the Journal

The journal publishes research at the intersection of radiology and surgery, including but not limited to:

  • Diagnostic imaging relevant to surgical decision-making
  • Image-guided and minimally invasive surgical techniques
  • Interventional radiology with surgical applications
  • Surgical planning and intraoperative imaging
  • Radiologic case reports of surgical significance
  1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

The journal accepts the following manuscript categories:

  1. a) Original Research Articles
  • Word count: 3,000–5,000 words (excluding references)
  • Structured abstract (250–300 words)
  • Up to 6 tables/figures
  1. b) Review Articles
  • Narrative or systematic reviews
  • Word count: up to 6,000 words
  • Abstract: up to 300 words
  1. c) Case Reports / Case Series
  • Unique or educational cases with imaging emphasis
  • Word count: 1,500–2,500 words
  • Maximum 4 figures
  1. d) Technical Notes
  • Innovative imaging or surgical techniques
  • Word count: up to 2,000 words
  1. e) Letters to the Editor
  • Commentary on previously published articles
  • Word count: up to 1,000 words
  1. Manuscript Preparation
  2. a) Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek professional language editing prior to submission.

  1. b) Manuscript Structure

Original Research Articles should include:

  1. Title Page
  2. Abstract and Keywords
  3. Introduction
  4. Materials and Methods
  5. Results
  6. Discussion
  7. Conclusion
  8. Acknowledgements (if any)
  9. Conflict of Interest Statement
  10. References

 

  1. c) Title Page

The title page should include:

  • Full manuscript title
  • Short running title (≤50 characters)
  • Full names of all authors
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Corresponding author’s email address
  1. d) Abstract and Keywords
  • Structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion)
  • 3–6 keywords (preferably MeSH terms)
  1. Figures and Tables
  • Figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
  • Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, TIFF
  • Tables should be editable and placed after references
  • Each figure and table must have a descriptive caption

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for previously published material.

  1. Ethical Requirements
  2. a) Human and Animal Studies
  • Studies involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki
  • Ethics committee approval and informed consent are mandatory
  • Animal studies must follow institutional and international guidelines
  1. b) Clinical Trial Registration

Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized public registry.

  1. Conflict of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose:

  • Any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest
  • All sources of funding or sponsorship

If none exist, authors should explicitly state:

“The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

  1. References
  • References should follow Vancouver style
  • Citations should be numbered consecutively in the text
  • Authors are responsible for reference accuracy
  1. Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with significant overlap or unethical duplication will be rejected.

  1. Peer Review Process
  • The journal follows a double-blind peer review process
  • Editorial decisions are final
  • Manuscripts may be accepted, revised, or rejected
  1. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Any applicable publication fees will be clearly communicated before acceptance. No fees are charged at the submission stage unless stated otherwise on the website.

  1. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to publish and distribute the work. Licensing terms are outlined on the Copyright page.

  1. Submission Process

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the journal website or via email (as specified on the submission page).

  1. Post-Publication Policy

The journal supports:

  • Corrections and retractions when necessary
  • Post-publication academic discussion
